DNA of a Leader
Its been so long since I've created my previous blog and now I've
decided to create a new one, entitled "DNA of a Leader". This past few months, there are lot of things get on my way. Things that are really
unexpected but made me feel undeniably excited and motivated. As a
result, I gladly created this blog!
According to Genetics Home Reference, In every nucleus of each cell, the DNA molecule is packaged into thread-like structures called chromosomes. Chromosomes determine the gender of a human, It can be either X or Y chromosomes that figure out whether a human is a female or a male. In terms of genes, it determine the color of your hair, eyes and skin. Now, like the question of Greg Watson in his work "DNA of an Entrepreneur" I wonder what is the DNA of a Leader?
Few months ago, the College of Business Administration and Accountancy held an election for the next officers of the BAASA (Business Administration and Accountancy Students' Association) SY 2012-13. It so happened that I was one of the candidate in the said election. I was so nervous and excited at the same time. Even though I was nervous, I said to myself "Hiedee! Everyone deserves a chance and your one of them". I really have this desire to grab the opportunity to help students like me in our department in terms of service. When the final counting of votes begun, I was a little bit uneasy. And finally, when all votes were counted the result were immediately announced. In my surprise, I've top the BAASA election in Senior division. I was so amazed and undeniably happy. I was really thankful to God and to all of my fellow students who supported me. But I know that the things I might encounter as a BAASA Officer will not be easy. I have now a bigger responsibility that I must perform very well. I pray that by God's grace, this Academic Year 12-13 I'm able to do my duties and responsibilities in my very own best way. Let's see If I do have a DNA of a Leader!

What's your real wealth?
( Matthew 6:24 ) |
This question was one of the given impromptu questions in our speech class. To be exact the question goes like this "Does real wealth is never measured in money or possessions?" According to Merriam-Webster dictionary the word wealth means abundance of valuable material possessions or resources. Yes, we could say that this is a valid definition for literal wealth, but how about our so called real wealth? Of course every person dreamed of being wealthy in terms of financial status, believed in a fact that money is important for you to survive in this modern world and being able to have the power of authority through possessions, but the truth is real wealth cannot be measured by any amount of money or possessions. It's true, for us to survive in this world, money is a necessity. But we must remember that money is only something to use but not to crave or to worship, necessary for our daily lives but definitely not something that should rule our lives. The Bible says that "you cannot serve two Masters at the same time" (GOD and Money) for either you will hate the one and love the other or else you would be devoted to the one and despise the other. What's the use of you're money if you're alone. What's the use of you're possessions in terms of land, cars, jewelries and other luxurious things if you're hurting other people. Real wealth cannot be measured only by money or possessions, but can be measured by who you are and what you are as a person in the eyes of God. A person that truly knows the difference between money and happiness. The difference between authority and respect. And the difference between possession and love. You can measure your real wealth by asking yourself the question "what kind of person I am and what are the good things I've done in this world?" And your answers, that's absolutely your real wealth.

My Failure, My Detour
Have you been encountered failures? I, as a person have encountered different scenarios of failures. Whenever I've encountered failure, I always ask myself the question "I did my best, why did I failed?". Afterwards, I will feel so down, useless and weak. My optimistic views will change into pessimistic views, making me feel so regretful. But at the end of the day, realization comes along my way. Making me realize that my failure does not mean I haven't accomplish something but I have learned something. That my failure does not mean I'm an inferior but it does mean that I'm not perfect. Lastly, my failures does not mean that I'm a failure but it does mean that I
have not yet succeeded. Thomas Edison says in his quotation that if you tried 700 times and all of it did not work, don't worry because you didn't failed even once. Why? because you have succeeded in proving that those 700 ways will not work. And you must eliminate those ways that will not work, so that eventually you'll find a new way that will definitely work. It only means that every failure is a detour and not a dead end. Whenever you failed always remember to stand up, because it doesn't mean that you just wasted your time but you have an excuse to start it over again for the sole purpose of having a new beginning and a new ending by God's grace.

Don't hide your face
In creating this blog, the song "This is Me" by Levi Lovato serves as my inspiration..
"I've always been the kind of girl
who hid my face
So afraid to tell the world
What I've got to say
But I have this dream
Right inside of me
I'm gonna let it show, it's time
To let you know"
Do you know what's its like
To feel so in the dark
To dream about a life
Where you're the shining star
Even though it seems
Like it's too far away
I have to believe in myself
It's the only way
Where you're the shining star
Even though it seems
Like it's too far away
I have to believe in myself
It's the only way
Chorus:
"This is real, This is me
I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be, now
Gonna let the light, shine on me
Now I've found, who I am
There's no way to hold it in
I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be, now
Gonna let the light, shine on me
Now I've found, who I am
There's no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be this is me"

What version are you?
"Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else", I really love this quotation by Judy Garland. After I saw this image containing this message, thoughts are already starting to pumped up into my mind. It's only composed of few words but expresses a very broad meaning. As a human it is natural that you admired lot of things, it could be on the physical appearance of a person, talents, behaviors, attitudes, personalities and others. But the mere fact is, there is no one alive who is youer than you. Don't let yourself to become just only a reflection of someone, instead prove yourself and make you're own personality. In everything be thankful because YOU are fearfully and wonderfully made by GOD ( Psalm 139:14). Each everyone of us have our own uniqueness in our very own way. Feel free to express yourself in a good way, because "those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind". Stand up and become not just the first-version of yourself but be the best-ever version of yourself. Being someone else is the hardest thing to do and being you is the easiest thing to do.
Laugh even when...
Laughing is the best cure when you feel so down, when you feel so tired, when you feel so afraid and even when you feel that there is no hope.. Just keep on trying to laugh because being able to laugh is much more easier than being sad. Just keep on smiling even when it hurts, because it would help you to become a stronger person and to go further than where you are today. Don't loose hope because when there's still a sunrise there's still a new hope. Just keep on laughing even when there are lots of hardships. Learn how to laugh freely. Learn how to live to the fullest. Most importantly, learn how to love and be loved.
